Indiana waives additional hearing, promises to take its medicine this time

Just saw this pop up on ESPN: According to reports out of Bloomington, the Indiana University administration has decided to not request an additional hearing with the NCAA, in response to the NCAA slapping an additional charge of “failure to monitor” the basketball program.
As the ESPN story notes:
University spokesman Larry MacIntyre confirmed the decision Thursday. [...]

I’ll say this for Indiana University athletics — no one, and I mean no one, does drama better than the Cream and Crimson. Everyone always blamed the drama on Bob Knight, but that’s selling IU short. They certainly appear to have their own special type of crazy going for them.

According to the Indianapolis Star, the report that Indiana University sent to the NCAA in regards to excessive phone calls to recruits by Kelvin Sampson’s staff at IU actually included 100 calls of uncertain origin, not the 35 that were reported in the press [...]
