The Startling Conclusion of the Nadal, Murray Match

“Thanks a lot, Hurricane D-Bag,” said Andy Murray as he left Armstrong Court this afternoon.  Despite the fact that Murray was down a break in the third just before the rain hit, it would have been a far better situation for the Scot to have finished the match today, and hoped to take the fourth set.

What a great place for Murray, up two sets with plenty of momentum, while in the midst of a great serving day.  Those days don’t tend to necessarily roll over to the following day either.  I can’t think of anything worse for Murray than a rain delay.  All bitching aside, shall we move on to what will happen tomorrow?

With Nadal down two sets (shocking), but up a break in the third, don’t look for this match to be over quickly.  Nadal will take the third set with his single break and carry the momentum into the fourth set.  This will be Murray’s only chance to win the match.  I see no way, unless he serves out of his mind and his drop shots are incredible, that he takes a fifth set from Rafa.  Strengthened by another night of rest, and plenty of confidence as the best player in the world, Nadal will be too much for Murray in the fifth.  Nadal didn’t play particularly well today, but don’t expect that from the World’s number one two days in a row.  He will come out with blazing speed, intensity, and one hell of a forehand.

Score: Nadal Wins: 2-6, 6-7(5), 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-3
