The last, great college team representing USA basketball? The 1984 squad, coached by then-Indiana head man Bob Knight. This highlight is from an exhibition game with Knight’s squad against a Pat Riley-coached NBA All-Star team. On the collegiates? Michael Jordan, Sam Perkins, Steve Alford, Alvin Robertson and Chris Mullin.
The pros team? Not too bad: Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, Alex English, Larry Nance and Walter Davis among others.
Knight’s team won 84-72, though the teams played two other times. Listen to Billy Packer’s comment about Jordan at 8:40 about how he thinks Jordan be one of the great players in the history of the game. Prescient stuff (btw, team USA easily won the gold).
