Our new favorite website? The People’s Daily Online, Beijing’s paper/online news source, where reality gets thrown out the window. Take the front page:

What’s missing? For starters, any mention of the lip-syncing girl who performed at the opening ceremonies. Or the digitally enhanced fireworks. But this is what caught our eye most:
Granted, a few papers or websites show the Gold medal leaders on top of the standings, but most understand this is a MEDAL tally, not a GOLD medal tally, and it’s tough to be number two when you have the most medals (although we assume the paper would have China up top if it was first in Gold, Silver, Bronze, or jelly beans).
BTW, nice spell check - We hope your eonomy isn’t as bad as ours.
