Dear Brett: There’s an opening at Kentucky …

Remember that story about the two University of Kentucky quarterbacks arrested in one week? Turns out one is in a WEE bit more trouble than the other.

Curtis Pulley, who was competing for the starting job, was cut on Tuesday. Pulley had one too many problems … or maybe two or three. Two weeks ago police arrested for him driving with a suspended license, as well as expired plates and registration. Then Louisville police said “Hey, we know this guy”, and revealed he was cited earlier in the month for pot possession.

“There’s no question that it is very, very difficult,” Coach Rich Brooks said during UK  Media Day. “Sometimes for the better good of the whole, some parts have to be sacrificed because somewhere down the line everybody has to realize there are consequences for their actions.”

The same week as Pulley’s arrest fellow QB Will Fidler was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Sophomore Mike Hartline will now be the starting quarterback.

As short as two seasons ago Pulley was thought to be the program’s future. UK even considered starting him in 2006 over Andre Woodson (who would lead UK to consecutive bowl wins for only the second time in school history). Now he might transfer to Eastern Kentucky, but most UK fans will think of this as a chance blown. Big time.
