We enjoy these silly blogs athletes write. Some of them are entertaining, some completely vapid, most give us no insight into the player.
That is, until the Rafael Nadal blog for The London Times! We like the Q&A section best, like this question from Fiona Lamb of Canada:
“I know you love your Mum’s cooking – what did she make for you for your first dinner after getting home from London? What is your favourite dish cooked by her?” (his favorite dish is fish).
Or this one from Naomi Wallace:
“I read that while in New York at the US Open last year you said you liked going to the aquarium to watch the fish. What is it about watching fish that you like so much? Do you feel a connection to the natural world in general?” (Another question about fish? Yes, Rafa likes fishing)
And one on Rafael’s athletic ability from Mamasue:
“I know that you play all other sports right-handed so it would be interesting to see if you would hit more home runs right-handed or left-handed. On which side do you think you would be more successfull, meaning hit more home runs?” (Rafa said he’s a natural right hander so hitting would be awkward).
And of course the question that needs to be asked: If you win, does Mom cook fish for the champions dinner? Oh the possibilities.
