Yup, the ESPN analyst is gone. Today, Georgia State will name the former Georgia Tech, Alabama and Kentucky head man as it’s new coach.
Wait, what? Who? Georgia State plays football?!?!
Yes, strangely, they will, starting in 2010 in what used to be Division I-AA (the NEW Football Championship Subdivision).
The school will announce the move today, effectively ending Curry’s time at ESPN. Before his decade at the WWL he coached Georgia Tech, Alabama and the suicide mission that is Kentucky. Seven years into his Lexington term, he realized Bristol may not be such a bad place after all.
Apparently Georgia State is the new southern home for seniors: When Charles “Lefty” Driesell took over the basketball program in 1997 he was 65, the same age Curry is now.
