Red Sox-Yankees: The three game report

First of all, this is April baseball. It doesn’t mean much. Christ, the Orioles started the year at 6-1 and they were still leading the AL East last I checked …does anyone think they’re going to finish higher than
4th? Of course not. In fact, this should be the year that the Devil Rays overtake them [...]

Don’t ever eat hotdogs at the dogtrack

Dog racing has come under more scruitiny over the past decade from PETA and the handle is way down.  I guess you could call the 1960’s through the 1990’s the ”Golden Age of Dog Racing.”  Due to online gambling technology, and states that love casino gambling revenue these canine cruisers are going the way of the beeper.

Stanley Cup - Night 7

Montreal 1 - Boston 0 (series 3-1 Mon)
The Bruins are fighting, but Montreal is a quicker, more aggressive, better offensive hockey team. Carey Price has, so far, answered the bell in net for Les Habs and the power play is giving Boston fits. The Bs have played tough hockey and aren’t going to [...]

Stanley Cup - Night 6

Pittsburgh 4 - Ottawa 1 (series 3-0 Pit)
Sadly, what could have been an excellent series is basically over.  There are three stories here.  For Pittsburgh, it’s a young team playing composed, exciting playoff hockey, and it’s the continuing emergence of Evgeni Malkin as an elite offensive player.  For Ottawa, it’s the embarassment of a half-season [...]

Stanley Cup - Night 5

Philadelphia 2 - Washington 0
Game 2 wins tend to be statements.  Philly has done an admirable job putting the shackles on Alex Ovechkin, but the real goat is his pal Alex Semin.  The Capitals forward squandered the game’s best chances.  The Flyers won’t lighten up on the Big O until somebody else steps up.
Montreal 1 [...]

Someone please pee on this guy’s rug

Don’t worry: We really have no clue who the guy on the right is either. But he did a nice job of putting his foot in his mouth this weekend.
Apparently his name is Bobby Clampett. He commentates for CBS and TNT, called the Masters this weekend, and did a nice job using slang my grandparents [...]

Sorry Mr. Snedeker: Augusta is closed. The moose outside should’ve told you.

Separated at birth: Anyone else think Masters front runner Brandt Snedeker (who we had never heard of until this weekend) …

Looks far too much like Rusty Griswold from “National Lampoon’s Vacation”?

Just don’t eat the wet sandwiches at the Masters’ dinner if Brandt wins.

Stanley Cup Playoffs - Night 4

Detroit 4 - Nashville 2
Too much across the board from Detroit.  The Preds are hanging tough, but the talent gap is clear.  For the first time in a decade or so this is a Detroit team with balls, so the Preds don’t really have any weapons.  Also, Hasek was a big factor early.
Montreal 3 - [...]

Stanley Cup Recap - Night 3

Philadelphia 4 - Washington 5
Wonderful game. The Caps got a-plus performances from their best players. Green was excellent, Ovechkin was a monster and I’m pretty sure I saw flashes of the old Sergei Fedorov. That said, the Flyers served notice that they aren’t going anywhere. This series will be brutal, high [...]

Stanley Cup - Game Capsules

Boston 1 - Montreal 4
The Bruins just don’t have the horses.  The good news is that Marc Savard was in the lineup, and that Tim Thomas didn’t play poorly, but Montreal came in and did their business.
Nashville 1 - Detroit 3
A controversial game-winner put Detroit up for good midway in the third period.  Sorry Preds [...]
