Stanley Cup - Night 13

Boston 0 - Montreal 5 (MON Wins series 4-3)

Carey Price rebounded better than I thought he would, but this game was more about the inevitable.  Boston played a hell of a series, and the fact that they made it this far is just shy of incredible.  Let’s not forget that they lost several heartbrakers along the way.  Besides, Les Habs own Boston.  Montreal will need to sort out its powerplay in the next round or there will be problems.

Washington 4 - Philadelphia 2 (Series 3-3 TIE)

So earlier in the playoffs I’m all like “Washington needs Semin and Backstrom to produce if they’re going to have a chance”.  Maybe I know what I’m talking about?  The supporting cast is starting to, you know, support, and suddenly it seems much more difficult to contain MVP Alex Ovechkin.  Huet has been good, but Washington will need goals to carry the series.  They’re only going to get those goals if the rest of the offense can make Philly spread their focus.  Game 7 should be intense.

I’d like to personally commend Versus for their coverage last night. Instead of showing us the exciting third period of the Caps-Flyers game, they kept us on the Montreal-Boston blowout until the bitter, bitter end.

Ah Versus, the “A for Effort” channel.

Do you think Boston has the brass to ditch Thomas and upgrade in net? They’re not going to get any further with him, but I wonder what the reaction would be to replacing him.

I knew the Caps weren’t done just yet. Ovechkin is a monster and Huet is 2008’s JS Giguere - the choice for a new generation.

I do not thick they have anything better behind Thomas right now. Boston is too cheap to get a better goalie.
