Don’t worry: We really have no clue who the guy on the right is either. But he did a nice job of putting his foot in his mouth this weekend.
Apparently his name is Bobby Clampett. He commentates for CBS and TNT, called the Masters this weekend, and did a nice job using slang my grandparents wouldn’t have: He called Chinese golfer Liang Wen-Chong “the chinaman.”
Whoops.
According to a CBS spokesperson, Clampett apologized on the Masters webcast:
“It has been a privilege to be here with you the last 2 days describing action of all of the players. In describing the Asian player Wen-Chong Liang if I offended anybody please accept me sincere apologies.”
Wonderful: The “If I bothered anyone, its because I was too dense to know what I did”.
Just one question, CBS: Do you really want a guy with the worldly knowledge of the Dude from The Big Lewbowski? Honestly, if Bobby had watched up to the 1:00 mark of this Youtube clip of the movie, John Goodman’s character in the movie would’ve taught him a good lesson.
