We’ve all heard the song before, the Masters music they play over and over and over and over again all weekend. And until three days ago I had no clue there were lyrics.
But lo and behold, there are. And now you’ll hear, the REST of the story.
Apparently in 1980, after some sort of inspiring visit to the course, Dave Loggins (cousin of Kenny) penned the song “Augusta” with fancy words and cool instrumentals. CBS liked it, but didn’t want the lyrics, so you’ve never heard them.
Until now, thanks to the crack TMC staff that was, until three minutes ago, eating Jujubees.
Because of this song, and material he wrote for artists like Three Dog Nigth, Reba McEntire, Alabama, Wynonna Judd and Toby Keith, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inducted Loggins in 1995.
