Which brings us to our next point: Kids, don’t do crack!

We all dream. That’s what sports is about, right?

Unfortunately, our Indiana brethren have taken it a bit further.

You may have read Mike Decourcy’s piece in the Sporting News, one saying the IU “blue ribbon” search committee was interested in Louisville’s Rick Pitino, a coach the school has no prayer of prying from the bluegrass. And fans/media/message boarders have thrown around a number of other unattainable names … but we almost fainted when we saw this:

You might wonder what Izzo’s saying there. Well, the crack staff at TMC got a hold of the coach, and his response?

“My mouth is open because I crapped my pants when I saw the headline! I had no idea I was going to IU either! Is Bloomington nice this time of year?”

True, this is a message board, but it was an article written by guys who work for the website.

There’s some weird arrogance of the big school when it comes to hiring a coach. Last year Kentucky thought everyone was going to come coach them: Billy Donovan, Tom Crean, Rick Barnes. UCLA had the same scenario when Steve Lavin left, and Indiana has two of the last three years (we remember in 2006 how IU fans thought Donovan might come then as well).

There’s no reason Tom Izzo is leaving Michigan State for anything but the NBA, and he’s not going to leave for another school in the conference. So chill, kids. Crack’s bad for your teeth.

Pretty sure UCLA targeted Howland from the beginning last time around. That didn’t prevent the fan sites from posting stupidity, of course.

Kind of like this Izzo BS the “journalists” at peegs.com are lending credence to. It all comes from Terry Hutchens doing a column a month ago that basically threw every big name at the wall to see what sticks.

Tom Izzo likely laughed his ass off when he heard these things. Completely ludicrous.
