So here’s the deal: The SEC says Kentucky and Georgia will play the quarterfinals at noon at Georgia Tech. Winner has to come back and play Mississippi State at 8:30 pm. Winner of that plays at 3 on Sunday. Potentially three games in 27 hours for the ‘Cats.
Oh, and only UK staff, players families, and about 400 people are allowed inside the arena.
This … is …. amazingly … stupid. And Kentucky should treat it that way.
The SEC hung you out to dry, Wildcats: UK is in the tournament already, has nothing to gain (save a small increase in seeding ) by continuing on, and can only hurt itself (physically - this from a team that’s already lost star frosh Patrick Patterson and guard Jodi Meeks).
So here’s what you do: You win against Georgia, get to the semis, and rest your regulars against Mississippi State. Play the kids that haven’t played all year. Heck, bring back the kid Billy Gillispie kicked off the team for smiling! Who cares? The SEC has show it doesn’t care for you, Kentucky. So why should you go all out for them?
This whole tournament has turned into a joke. Thus, for the first time ever, we throw our support behind Kentucky … and hope you crash the party by acting just as assholish as your conference.
