Somehow this seems a better fit than coaching college kids: WRTV in Indianapolis is reporting former Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson is now with the San Antonio Spurs. The station says the team hired Sampson as an adviser.
Folks spotted Sampson at the Spurs 108-97 win over the Indiana Pacers and started spreading rumors. Sampson was at the game in Spurs gear and creme and crimson shoes, the colors of Indiana.
“I’m just learning and watching (The NBA game),” Sampson said before the game. “I’ve been in college my whole career”.
The Indianapolis Star reports Sampson only talked for 30 seconds, walked away and said:
“That’s it. I really don’t want to do an interview. You take that and do what you want with it”.
Apparently Sampson is a good friend of San Antonio coach Greg Popovich, so good the Pop gave him some token job picking his nose.
“He’s a buddy,” Popovich said. ” … he can look at us and if he has a good suggestion, that’s great. It’s great to have him here”.
