Thanks a lot, Brett, for destroying the Bengals. You jackass.

Do you know who that is?

Don’t worry: Packers fans may not remember him. Guy’s name is Kitrick Taylor. Packers fans may barely know him: He played only one season there. But he was part of something huge: With Brett Favre, they killed the Cincinnati Bengals franchise.

Ok, not really: That’s owner Mike Brown. But I digress.

You see, I remember Kitrick because, on September 20, 1992, Kitrick caught Brett Favre’s first-game winning touchdow pass. He did it with just thirteen seconds to go. And he did it against my beloved Cincinnati Bengals.

And I remember the pain. Oh, the pain.

“We just lost to some guy who can’t spell his own name,” I told my Dad. And he responded, “Don’t worry: Boomer’s going to lead this team back”.

You see what you did Brett? You fooled my Dad! What kind of American are you?!?! And for that, I’ve kept my Favre voodoo doll close to me ever since. Just like the team, Bengals fans can’t get much right, namely black magic.

More on my pain and suffering because of Brett Favre, and his interview on NBC, after the jump.

Most people forget the Bengals were 2-0, were just a season removed from a division title (and four from a Superbowl loss), and led the game 20-10. The Packers? Lousy. Oh-and-two a year after finishing 4-and-12. And when the Bengals knocked starting quarterback Don Majkowski out, giving some kid named Fav-ray a shot, we were set. Play-by-play announcer Jim Lampley kept giving stats about how few teams that started 3-0 miss the playoffs.

Maybe we can blame Lampley, too.

Regardless, the Bengals started playing prevent defense, and, fill in the blanks, it prevented them from winning. And thus started Brett Favre’s ascent to three MVPs, two Superbowl appearances and one title. And it accelerated the Bengals descent: Team wouldn’t have a winning season again until 2005.

And it’s all Brett Favre’s fault. No, that’s not fair: Kitrick Taylor deserves some blame.

Regardless, here’s the NBC post-game and interview with Favre in the game that killed my team. And just for you, Brett, I hope your wife sleeps with Aaron Rodgers.
