This is almost purely speculative, but I’ve had three separate people email me about it, and it was just mentioned on Indianapolis sports talk radio, so here goes…

What I’m hearing is that the powers that be (who were meeting most of this afternoon/evening, according to the Bloomington Herald-Times) have decided to either suspend Sampson indefinitely or fire him outright, and that Dan Dakich will be named the interim head coach tomorrow, possibly at a 4 PM press conference.

As I said, this is still somewhat speculative, but there’s been behind-the-scenes movement on this issue all day, and it appears that the trigger was finally pulled.
