Wasn’t sure if anyone else noticed this, but there was a passage in the Chicago Sun-Times game preview article for tonight’s Indiana-Illinois matchup that caught my eye:
If it’s any balm for Illini fans who regard Gordon in the same light as Benedict Arnold, this probably will be the last time Gordon comes to Champaign in an Indiana uniform, too.
The 6-4 guard, who leads the Big Ten in scoring with 21.8 points per game, seems destined to declare for the NBA draft after this season. There’s also speculation that coach Kelvin Sampson, who’s facing his second round of NCAA sanctions in three years, might not return to Indiana, which took such great pride in Bob Knight’s reputation for running a clean program.
Now, we did talk about this stuff a bit during October of 2007, but I thought the rumors had died down. So what’s the story?

I kept thinking the NCAA was going to come down before the big dance, but perhaps they’ll do the classy thing and wait. Still, it could be painful times.
You know, that Knight guy is available … no, not Brevin Knight, you dufus.
