CNNSI.COM brings in the experts!

I came across cnnsi.com’s analysis of the Super Bowl in a piece they called SI.com’s NFL writers forecast Super Bowl XLII and was impressed  by the depth and quality of their reporting.  Oh wait.  Scratch that. This article provides no plausible explanation for a Super Bowl winner other than the Patriots are good.  I am no model of prize winning journalism but c’mon gentlemen you have got to give me something other than “The Giants have no shot”.

I don’t think anyone is now saying “I was going to take the Giants +12 but that argument is just too convincing”.  How about things like key personnel matchups? Offensive/Defensive schemes? This article lacks any depth and even if the writers were limited to just a few sentences there is still plenty of pertinent information.  This is not just a case of a wannabe blogger bitter for not having his chance to work for one of the big media companies.  I have no aspirations to be a journalist nor is TMC a specific sports news site. This is a blog where I write about the sports stories that interest me. CNNSI.com is a sports news site and has an obligation to provide its many readers with accurate, informative and knowledgeable writing, everything the following comments are not.

Don Banks:“New England has been predestined for history all season, and the Patriots are the best closers in the NFL. Whatever it takes to get the job done and position themselves as the winningest team of all time, the Patriots will find both the will and the way. New York is just another Super Bowl underdog. New England is a team for the ages. ”

Jim Trotter: “For roughly two months, every opponent has played New England as if the game were a Super Bowl. They’ve met every challenge and will do so again.  ”

Bucky Brooks:“New England will win because of its experience playing in big games. Tom Brady, Tedy Bruschi and Rodney Harrison lead a team that features 23 players with Super Bowl experience. That wisdom will be a critical advantage, as it typically takes teams a little over a quarter to adjust to the added intensity and speed of the title game.”

Ross Tucker: “The Patriots have come too far in this marathon of an NFL season to get edged out at the finish line. This game will represent the coronation of the greatest season in league history, and the New England players are cognizant that they need one more win in order to cement their eternal legacy. ”

Reuben Frank: “All week, I tried to delude myself that the Giants were going to win. They’re the hot team. They’re the confident team. They’re the team of destiny. I couldn’t talk myself into it. Let’s face it. The Patriots are just better. A lot better. Across the board. The Giants have no shot. “
