Ray Lewis, Jewish superhero, says Mazel Tov to Dolphins

ray-lewis.jpg

You probably know some of the great Jewish American sports heroes. Like Hank Greenberg. Sandy Koufax. Bob Cousy.

And Ray Lewis. Yes, THAT Ray Lewis.

We didn’t believe it either, but the star linebacker’s wikipedia.com page indicates he’s told people he’s a “devout Jew”.

“(That caused) many of his teamates to jokingly make antisemetic remarks to him. He is unphased by this, saying, ‘I realize that many Jewish customs are strange, but I know that I can pray and worship however I want, and no one can stop me.”

Is it legit? How long has Lewis been Jewish? Who knows? We’re making the safe assumption its sometime after his birth (maybe being charged with murder makes you want to celebrate Yom Kippur that much more).

Just to let you know, Ray Ray, all of us in the Jewish community are welcoming, and ready to give you a free subscription to jdate.com.  Maybe you can find a young girl to make your bubba proud. Oy, my gut is hurting me!

UPDATE: So we post this story Monday, and by mid afternoon Tuesday the segment from Lewis’ Wikipedia page is gone. Jewish Ray? No more - it’s all gone. Sadly it all seemed too good to be true. Sigh. Damn you Wikipedia!

I am not so sure how about feel about Ray Ray being a member of the tribe. Perhaps his fondness of murder is throwing me off. Jews frown upon that sort of thing.

Oh come on, HebrewHammer. Ray Lewis does not have a fondness for murder … off the football field … anymore. The bitch…err.. I mean his homies set him up!

Ok Mel Gibson put the drink down and don’t forget your carpenter friend was a member of the tribe himself.
