No one quite loses like you, West Virginia nation.
So your kicker misses two 1st-half field goals from 20 and 32 yards in the 13-9 loss to Pittsburgh. What do you do to Pat McAfee? What any rational fan would: Gather around his house to harrass him; angrily text him; scream at his girlfriend; post on his facebook.com page that he must die; and, of course, vandalize his car. Who wouldn’t do this?
Oh you wacky ‘eer fans.
Things got so bad his father had to call a statewide radio network, West Virginia MetroNews Talkline, to ask people to stop.
Of course, the Mountaineer fans said nothing to running back Steve Slaton, who rushed for a whopping 11 yards on nine carries. And WVU fans who say “McAfee cost us a shot at the national title game” are mistaken: His field goals would’ve merely tied the game - WVU got a safety in the game’s last play when the Pittsburgh punter ran out of the endzone; surely that wouldn’t have happened in a 13-13 tie.
Good news? Once papa McAfee went on the radio, the threats subsided. Bad news? A bad game against Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl and this might start all over again.
Again, you stay classy WVU.
