The worm continues to turn unabated at Indiana University. In the wake of self-reported violations of Kelvin Sampson’s probationary NCAA status due to improper and excessive phone calls, news today comes from Fox Sports that a coach at IU is expected to resign. That coach’s name is…
…um, wait a minute…
Rob Senderoff?
Yes, that’s right. Mr. Senderoff, a 15-year coaching veteran, is apparently going to resign as a result of this scandal. If you recall, Senderoff was banned from recruiting by Indiana University for one year in the school’s self-imposed sanction process earlier this month. Meanwhile, the school (and Sampson) are still waiting by the phone to hear whether the NCAA will do any further damage to the program (and the coach’s) reputation by way of additional sanctions.
Something about this smells fishy. Inside sources at the university are still maintaining that there’s quite a bit of fire to this story that hasn’t started throwing smoke yet. Those same sources are reporting that Sampson’s tenure so far has been a nightmare in terms of noncompliance with NCAA procedures, and that the athletic department compliance office has been working overtime just trying to keep things from coming completely unraveled.
It does seem rather odd that, on the eve of Indiana releasing the full text of the law firm report on these incidents, that one of the assistant coaches just suddenly decides to resign — particularly since we’re only about a week away from the start of the season. Even the Fox Sports writer noted that Senderoff had become Sampson’s “fall guy”.

Firing Rob Senderhoff is a last ditch effort by Rick Greenspan, Kelvin Sampson, and the IU athletic department to stem the tide of NCAA investigations that’s sure to come.
Greenspan and Sampson are pure scum for this move to a man Sampson called “A man of integrity, honesty, and someone I want associated with the IU program” when hired.
If there is a Hell, and I’m sure there is, Kelvin Sampson should spend forever there for this raping of a man only following his bosses directions.
Good luck Rob. You did wrong, but not as wrong as your bosses. You cheated and you deserve the appropriate punishment.
Your coaching career is over, as I’m sure your aware. Good luck providing for your family as Sampson and Greenspan eat steak and pat each other on the back while you toil at whatever job you come up with.
After Senderoff and Lopes, any coach called by Sampson should politely tell Kelvin to go piss up a rope.
I don’t feel bad for Senderhoff at all. This is what happens when you latch on to someone with questionable ethics - eventually, you will be on the wrong side of the “how do I save my own butt” equation. Thanks for illustrating that the chickens always come home to roost, Rob.
“Inside sources at the university” aka “my imagination”
There’s more than enough dirt on Sampson out there…I don’t see the need to make any additional dirt up.
@Coach - This doesn’t mean an end to his career. See: Eddie Sutton, douchebag extraordinaire.
My sources tell me Indiana will lure Pete Carroll to Bloomington.
That’s good to hear — he’d be far better than Lynch. Why don’t you post that on your own blog? Are you desperate for hits or something?
