Nothing kills a buzz worse than a school with no idea how to celebrate a huge win. Take, for example, the University of Kentucky, Lexington campus.
Meet Tony Stewart … er, UK’s Anthony Stewart, a junior wide receiver. He hasn’t played a down of football this year, but, well, police in Lexington say he’s been downing something (ok, I’ll work on a better line …). Monday night Lexington police executed a search warrant at Stewart’s home, and what did they find? The police report says bags of pot over 5-pounds heavy. Then police say they located the Wildcat at another location with three grams of powder cocaine.
And one of those giant burritos from Hardee’s that pack near 1,000 calories. Well, maybe not.
Stewart was arraigned in Fayette District Court on Tuesday. He is being held on $25,000 bond after pleading not guilty, but coach Rich Brooks isn’t waiting: Stewart is suspended indefinitely pending an investigation.
Of course, if this was Andre Woodson, we suspect he’d play under the guise of “Hey, Andre is innocent until proven guilty”.
BTW, UK was fined $50,000 by the SEC for rushing the field after Saturday’s 43-37 3 OT win over no. 1 LSU. Oh by the way, 22 fans were arrested in Lexington Saturday night post victory. Can ‘Cats fans/players/bubbas read “Celebrating big wins for dummies”?
