We apologize in advance Buckeye fans, but your hero has gone 100% crazy.
In Sunday’s edition of The Grand Rapids Press, the only 2-time Heisman trophy winner Archie Griffin says the BCS is here to stay. That part we begrudgingly accept, but when asked why division one the football bowl subdivision (or whatever the NCAA wants us to call it) can’t have a playoff, Griffin responded:
“Other divisions do it. It’s not that you can’t do it, but do you want to? I agree with the bowl system because a lot of teams have more of an opportunity.”
?!?!?!?
You mean like Boise State, who can go unbeaten, beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl, and never dream to even be part of the BCS national title game? Or Rutgers, a Big East team that could’ve gone unbeaten yet still not played for the title? Or Kansas, who could go unbeaten this year yet get left out of the championship?
No excuses that ten teams now play in the joke that is the BCS and it’s four non title-game crappers. Ask Louisville and Wake Forest if they really feel like they played in a true Orange Bowl … better yet, ask the Cards if they felt frustrated watching a feeble (but ticket-selling) Notre Dame lose it’s 75th straight bowl game in the Sugar Bowl to LSU, a game the Tigers should’ve played against UofL.
Archie, keep taking pictures for OSU, but stop being the NCAA’s shill.
