Friday evening reading

keylargoLooks like I missed a hell of a day yesterday! Thanks to Deadspin, The Big Lead, Epic Carnival, Awful Announcing, and everyone else who linked to us. For those who have found the site for the first time, welcome! Stick around and enjoy the fun — consider becoming a registered member (it’s free!).

So, fresh off a trip to the Keys, here are some articles from around sports for you:

— Jake Curtis of the San Francisco Chronicle had to remind us that the first BCS poll is coming out this Sunday. Yes, the biggest piece of crap in all of sports is back, ensuring that for yet another year (and the foreseeable future), the idiots of the Harris Poll, the bigger idiots who fill out the coach’s poll ballots, and the statistical liars operating the BCS ratings computers will have a chance to do all kinds of stupid things to college football. What fun! I can’t wait for another undeserved Ohio State visit to the BCS title.

— Saw this in the Miami Herald today…apparently Joe Theismann is still mighty bitter about being replaced by Kornheiser. (Props to Awful Announcing for beating me to the punch on this one!)

— Awful Announcing also had a great find today, regarding tonight’s tipoff of Midnight Madness. Apparently the Big Ten Network is going to be providing Internet feeds of several teams’ practices, including Indiana, Illinois, and others.

—Finally, we promised you updates on Basketball Prospectus, and we can happily say that it’s now online and kicking. Head on over and read what they’ve got to say about things, starting with the ACC preview.
