SopCast is still dead and other collected works

Joey HarringtonYes, SopCast is still dead from the mortal wound that the NFL inflicted on it two weeks ago. Some ace reporting reveals that not only are the NFL SopCast feeds dead, but the guy responsible for finding most of the links to individual streams has suddenly and mysteriously disappeared off the face of the Internet. I’m not saying there’s a connection, but…wow.  Anyway, out of respect for the community which has tried valiantly to put something together the last two weeks regarding SopCast streams and NFL games, I’m not going to delve much more into this. Persons who can use search engines effectively will be able to put the story together.

In other news, the Packers failed to drive the much-needed stake into the heart of the Bears last night, the Indians failed to drive the much-needed stake into the heart of the Yankees last night, and a bunch of people wrote about sports on the Internet. More after the jump.

When Synonyms Attack - Awful Announcing reports on ESPN broadcaster Mike Patrick’s extremely untoward verb choice describing Virginia Tech’s unsuccessful trip to Baton Rouge earlier this year. I must say, this reminded me of that story in The Big Show when Olbermann recalls someone finishing off a sports report with “…and Air Force shot down Kent State.”

When Career Backups Attack - Deadspin ruminates on simple truths as they relate to Joey Harrington. Plus, a bonus note about Jake Plummer perhaps returning to Arizona. Yikes.

The Other Sport - A couple of us still follow hockey on TMC (myself included), and we had our first full weekend of action this past Saturday and Sunday. FanHouse’s Eric McErlain breaks down some of the early storylines from the young NHL season. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for the latest SoFla report this week, as we recount our first trip to a Panthers game.

It’s okay, Berman needed a nap and a cigarette anyway - If you’re interested in reading bloggers cackle in delight at Brett Favre’s return to form last night, you’re not going to have to search very long. From the myriad of “Favre Not Good!” entries, we present you Five Tool Tool.

No, no, no, you’ll ruin it! - Signal To Noise with a typically excellent breakdown of college football’s post-weekend ruins. Bonus points for having USF at #4, where they should be. But come on, guy…let’s just not mention IU at all until they get to the 6th win. Then we can talk.

Fiestaware…the lady wants fiestaware - You Been Blinded dutifully reports on Pat Burrell’s wedding registry, as told by Philly.com. Weird.

At least you didn’t draft him - Shakedown Sports officially writes off Reggie Bush.

Just don’t let Bill Self near the team - Kansas is 20th in both football polls this week. If you know nothing about them, then we have something in common. The Extrapolater seems to know about them, however.
