Phillies and Cubs Videos - Good Philly Fan Behavior & Doing the Bartman

I really wanted to wait and post these separately next week.  But since the Phillies and Cubs are determined not to make it to game 4 of the NLDS, I give you these 2 clips.

This is from Game 1 of the NLDS between the Phillies and the Rockies.  The real question is, why is Philly fan not booing?  The guy lost the fight, you can boo that!  The Phanatic didn’t win fair, as he used distraction to win, you can boo that!  No booing, just cheering?  You are letting me down Philly fan!

This video is from late August.  It was the Kiss-Cam video during a Cubs v Diamondbacks game in Arizona.  I hate to admit it, but I am always a fan of the Kiss-Cam.  You always get a good mix of “I can’t believe she is with him” couples, Guys who get a bit to frisky, two of the opposing team’s bullpen and if you are lucky the always popular “She’s my sister”.  This little spoof on Bartman was pretty good.  In 1993, if you told me that “Doing the Bartman” would someday not be related with Bart Simpson, I would have told you that you were crazy!

I love the Cubs fans obsession with Steve Bartman. Yeah, he blew that 3-1 lead to the Marlins. Heck, why not just blame him for a century of world championship-less baseball?!?! Didn’t he tell W Iraq had WMDs?

The Cubs rightful place in baseball is 5th place in the NL Central. Go Diamondbacks!

    Sean,

I agree. While Bartman didn’t help much in the 2003 NLCS, I feel like Cubs fans were almost looking for a curse to rival that of the Red Sox. And the whole Bartman thing was the best they could come up with, so they ran with it.

It kills Cubs fans that the Red Sox always had the curse of the Bambino and Buckner. The Cubs had Steve Garvey and the goat. So basically, the Red Sox had some great mystery around their losing, while the Cubs didn’t have much, and bascially just sucked.
