Fresh off the conviction of former Northern Colorado punter Mitch Cozad and his seven year prison term for stabbing his competition for the starting punting job (those crazy special teamers!) comes another story from the “I’m a jealous back up who is desperate to start” files.
Last Thursday, Jacksonville University
starting running back Rudell Small was removed from the team and suspended from school after police, acting on an anonymous tip, discovered marijuana in his dorm room. Seems reasonable. Only the tip wasn’t so anonymous after all. It turns out that Cecil Coltrane, who recently had given up his starting job to Small, admitted planting more than 20 grams of marijuana in Small’s room in order retain his starting spot.
So for all you kids who think hard work and dedication will earn you playing time, you are flat out wrong. Committing a crime is the way to go….until you get arrested, because that sucks.

So wait…we suffered through a year of Matt LoVecchio as starter and no one thought of this?
Where was Gibran Hamden when you needed him?
