Indiana Basketball has officially entered the Sampson Era

Kelvin SampsonNews broke on Saturday morning, indicating that highly regarded Indiana basketball recruit Bud Mackey, one of coach Kelvin Sampson’s top recruits for the 2008-09 season, was arrested for trafficking in cocaine outside his high school in Georgetown, KY on Friday.

How was Mr. Mackey caught? Well, here’s the description from the AP story:

Hicks told the Herald-Leader that according to school officials, they went to look for Mackey when he didn’t show up for a fifth-period English class and found him outside the building, smelling of marijuana. Police found cocaine in his possession, according to the report.

Ah yes. I remember how pressure-filled 5th period English was back in high school. Nothing to take the edge off like smoking a joint and selling a little blow.

We’ll dive into this story in more detail once we read more information about it. However, I think it’s safe to say that, with this incident, we have officially entered the “Kelvin Sampson Era” at IU. Anyone who questions this should simply think back to how Sampson left Oklahoma back in 2006.

We’re at the start of a long, dark road to ruin, Hoosier fans. More details on this story later in the day.

    you’re an idiot.

Perhaps I am, Mr. Weber. For IU basketball’s sake, let’s hope I am. With Sampson’s history, I’d rather be overreactionary than under-vigilant.
