Seems a couple of big wins puts the University of Kentucky up there with USC. Heck, according to UK coach Rich Brooks, near half the league is as good as the Trojans.![]()
On Thursday’s version of The Jim Rome Show, Brooks explained the difference between playing in the Pac-10 and the SEC is “we play four or five (U)SC’s each year”, and when pressed later to name those four or five teams, he said “we may be right there”.
Guess beating Louisville and Arkansas goes a lot further than I ever remembered.
You do remember the Trojans, the same team that’s lost five games in four years,
won a couple national titles and played for the championship another year? Apparently they’re just another team in Brooks mind. When Rome challenged him on the “four or five (U)SC” comment, Brooks stood his ground, then rattled off “Florida, LSU … Auburn was there a few years ago, Arkansas was there last year” before saying, yes, his Wildcats may be up there, too.
Heck, why not throw out Vanderbilt? Surely playing all the SEC powerhouses over the last few years has toughened them to the point they could whip John David’s Booty.![]()
Anyone remember what happened the last time USC played an SEC team? Yeah, first game of the 2006 season at Arkansas. Yeah, the Hogs almost won. Yeah, they lost by 36.
That’s more than five touchdowns, coach Brooks. They still “right there” with USC?
If these SEC teams are so great, match them up against the Trojans. Until then, lay off this argument.
Yes, the SEC is by far the best league in the country, but anyone thinking teams beyond Florida and LSU in the league can compete with them are nuts.
Even, yes coach Brooks, your Kentucky Wildcats.
