Last Four In: Purdue, Georgia Tech, Creighton, Missouri State
Last Four Out: Alabama, Syracuse, Clemson, Oklahoma State
Notes:
- Wisconsin would’ve moved into Ohio State’s seed if they’d won today
(which they didn’t). They probably won’t fall below the 2-line, even
if Brian Butch is out for the year.
- If Florida falters in the SEC tournament, Kansas will likely take
their spot as a 1 seed.
- Vanderbilt is on the move up. They’ve got a relatively easy schedule
the rest of the way, so I don’t see their credentials deteriorating.
Other teams that could see their seed improve considerably include
Notre Dame, Michigan State, Texas, and Louisville.
- Kentucky, Indiana, Butler, and Air Force are all really damaging
their seedings with their recent play.
One additional note: Seeding the bracket this year is one of the most distasteful tasks I’ve ever engaged in. There’s very little to distinguish the teams seeded between 4 and 9, and even less to distinguish those between 9 and 12.
More in-depth analysis to follow in the coming days. But in the meantime, hit me up with your comments, or email me at thermocaster (at) gmail.com.
